The visit to Ghana by the two eminent businessmen, who are attracted by the conducive environment in the country, is the first step in an ambitious programme to establish a 1100 hectare Aquaculture and hydroponics complex (fish-farming on a major scale) in the Agogo Traditional Area. When it becomes operational, the complex will provide approximatly 25, 000 pounds of tilapia and 12, 000 pounds of vegetables per hectare per year.

The project also has the potential for further replication in other traditional areas due to the fact that not only will the complex be established, but also it is hoped that the accompanying technology will also be transferred via an ASP/ISP Satellite link-up for the use of other communities.

Again, the visit by the two American businessmen is hoped to open the gates to a vision to establish a Sister City relationship between Agogo, Ghana, Ft. In the Sister Cities programme for a distant learning, the mutually beneficial distant learning technology will be made available and put to use to the benefit of the three communities.

Utilizing Distant Learning Technology, reading/writing (English) will be taught in Florida, reading/writing (French) in Cameroon and mathematics taught in Agogo, Ghana for the mutual benefit of all three communities. In the programme, each site will be governed by the same lesson plan, text, quiz, examination and grade system.

Again, the visit will provide the two businessmen with the opportunity study the terrain for the establishment of Cyber-Cafe Centres throughout the Ghana and a series of Information Servers on the Internet structured to provide appropriate support material to existing institutions, lecturers, teachers and businesses.

The infrastructure to be provided will facilitate collaborative learning and project development by people living in different cities and countries, reducing travel expenses while improving the development of education in Ghana.

Sources close to the organisers of the trip hinted that Citrix Systems, Inc. are impressed by the efforts being made by the government to attract investment into the country and improve the living standards of the people, and this feeling was further reinforced by the visit of Nana Akuoko Sarpong to the Ft. Lauderdale/Miami/West Palm Beach area to the headquarters of Citrix Corporation where a strong bond of friendship was established between Nana and the staff of the Corporation.
