Kenya Airways has won the ‘Airline Operator of the Year’ award at the maiden National Aviation Awards held in Accra.

The award was in recognition of the airline’s consistent excellence in customer service, commercial planning and distribution, as well as the airline’s marketing drive during the last 12 months.

The National Aviation Awards recognises distinctions exhibited in every classification of the aviation industry. These categories are wide-ranging and stretches from domestic and international airline operators, to service providers, travel and tourism companies, insurance and supportive financial institutions, and airport operations.

Commenting on the award, Ms. Rose Kiseli, Kenya Airways’ Area Manager for Anglophone West Africa said: “It is refreshing to receive overwhelming recognition for the huge efforts we make to ensure our guests are happy. This year alone, we have been adjudged Africa’s Leading Airline at the World Travel Awards as well as the Best Business Class Airline in Africa at the same Awards.

Indeed, this year marked the fourth consecutive time we had won the award of Best Business Class Airline at the World Travel Awards. We are particularly happy to have been named Airline Operator of the Year at the Ghana National Aviation Awards because this happens to be the maiden award and we have consistently provided excellent customer service in our operations to and from Ghana.”

Kenya Airways (KQ) currently operates daily flights between Accra and Kenya with on-ward connections to several destinations in Africa, Asia, Europe and the Gulf among others.

The airline is offering special deals to Ghanaian travelers who book their seats ahead of their trip. Passengers can purchase tickets at very low fares by booking their flights ahead of time.

This is part of the airline’s commitment to enhancing customer experience and improving its commercial business with flexible ticket price offering.

In a related development, the airline has appointed Jan de Vegt as its Chief Operations Officer effective August 1, 2016.

Mr Vegt joins KQ from Cobalt Ground Solutions in the UK where he is currently the managing director. He replaces Mr Guibert who took over the job from KQ’s Mbuvi Ngunze when he was promoted to head the airline beginning November 2014.
