SSB Bank, the second most capitalised equity on the Accra bourse after Ashanti Goldfields Company and Unilever on Wednesday led a pack of eight gainers in active trading that saw a bulk purchase in the shares of Aluworks Limited.
The GSE All-Sharee Index, the main market gauge, leapt by 88.8 points to 3,256.74 points with the change for the year closing at 133.41 per cent.
Total shares traded jumped from a mere 43,000 shares on Monday to 1,874,700 shares with Aluworks Limited (ALW) selling 1,650,200 shares. There were eight price changes, all positive.
SSB Bank was up by 1,490 cedis at 21,000 cedis, Unilever appreciated by 1,290 cedis to 12,000 cedis, Ghana Breweries Limited gained 100 cedis at 1,300 cedis and Fan Milk Limited was better by 40 cedis at 3,650 cedis.
British American Tobacco gained 15 cedis 3,030 cedis, Ghana Commercial Bank rose by 10 cedis at 7,120 cedis, Guinness Ghana Limited (GGL) ended up five cedis higher at 4,865 cedis while Mobil Oil Ghana Limited inched up by one cedi at 27,506 cedis.
Market capitalisation ended mid-week trading at 11,867.47 billion cedis from 11,643.19 billion cedis.
