The Chief Executive officer of the National Petroleum Commission Egbert Faibille Jnr has challenged state owned companies especially those in the oil and gas sector to be resourceful to the nation just as GOIL has demonstrated over the years.

The renowned media practitioner and lawyer said this during an interaction with pressmen when his outfit, the Petroleum Commission toured the recently constructed Marine Gas Storage (MGS) facility owned by GOIL.

The facility which costs $15m is the largest in the country and was purposely set up to improve the bunkering industry and the Ghanaian economy in general.

The facility has a 13.5 million litre capacity and consists of storage and dispatch of marine gas oil to upstream vessels, ships and FPSOs that would dock at the Takoradi Port.

This would no doubt contribute to the re-direction of ships and vessels to the Takoradi Harbour for fuelling and make Ghana the destination choice for vessels in the sub-region.

Speaking after an inspection of the facility, Egbert Faibille Jnr commended GOIL for self-financing the project.

He also encouraged other state owned corporations to emulate GOIL’s zeal to make themselves relevant in the ever changing field of Oil and Gas.

Mr Egbert Faibille Jnr promised that the Petroleum Commission and to a large extent government would provide the needed support to GOIL.
