Winners of
Loyal customers of MTN, Ghana’s largest telecommunication giant, have been rewarded with four (4) brand new Hyundai vehicles in the ‘MTN 4G Taking Over Promo’.
The MTN ‘4G Taking Over Promo’ is a five-month promotion which commenced in December 2017 and is expected to end in April 2018 with a lucky winner awarded a 2 bedroom house at Devtraco in Tema.
At a ceremony at the MTN Headquarters in Accra, five (5) customers received GHC 5, 000 each, five (5) others received GHC 2, 000 each, whilst six (6) customers received GHC 1, 000 each.
Two (2) customers at the same event received brand new iPhone 8 and Samsung S8 phones respectively and 11 customers took home 4G Y5 handsets. In all about 35 customers received various prizes in the promotion.
Senior Specialist Segment Marketing MTN Ghana, Maxwell Arthur stated that the promotion is to appreciate MTN customers who are using their 4G network.
According to him, the exercise was a usage-based promotion where customers accumulate points based on what they do on their MTN 4G network.
“Whenever you spend a pesewa on voice, you get one point, whenever you spend a pesewa on data, you get two points, whenever you spend a pesewa on mobile money transactions based on the charge that MTN is going to charge you for commission, you get two points from that,” he said.
Mr Arthur explained that MTN selects winners based on how often they use the airtime to make calls, text and browse. A customer is also selected from how often he or she uses the MTN mobile money in transacting businesses.
‘’At the end of the month we do a ranking based on the highest point to the lowest point and the highest point earner of the month gets a car likewise the second, third and fourth positions.’’
He noted that the other high scoring customers are also rewarded with cash prizes of GHC5000, GHC2000, GHC1000 and GHC500 as well as other mobile gadgets such as iPhone 8, Samsung S8 and 4G Huawei Y5 Handsets.
