Aflao, (V/R) Dec. 22, GNA - There has been a sharp increase of business activity and border crossings at the Ghana-Togo frontier at Aflao as the Yuletide approaches.
When the Ghana News Agency (GNA) visited the border on Tuesday there were hordes of people at both sides and the Immigration lobbies were full while many trucks with goods waited for their turn to go in or out of Ghana.
Lining up the alleys and streets to the border was an unprecedented number of illegal money dealers jostling for business.
The large number of Ghanaians seeking the CFA for shopping in Togo resulted in a further fall of the cedi to 18,700 cedis for 1,000 CFA. Despite the hustle and bustle, Police sources said crime level had gone down considerably.
"Criminal activity, which is high in Aflao and normally a common scene around this time of the year is virtually absent," Mr Baba Moro, District Crime Officer, Aflao Police told the GNA
