Mr. Kwasi Boadu in black suit with some GSA Exco member
The Ghana Standard Authority (GSA) on Thursday February 28,2019 held a send-off ceremony for its outgoing Inspectorate Director, Kwasi Owusu Boadu at its head office in Accra.
Mr. Boadu, who served at GSA for 32 years worked with three different directorates namely; Metrology, Testing and Standards before subsequently becoming the Inspector Director. He is also the only recognized Regional Director of the institution serving as the Ashanti Regional Director for three years.
Speaking at the event held by Staff of GSA, the Deputy Director General for Conformity Assessment at GSA, Charles Amoako described the outgoing Inspector Director as a distinct person who excels in whatever he does.
"At the Inspection department, Mr. Boadu did well and now things are working efficiently. I am very happy for you as you leave humbly. We wish you well and may God be with you."
On his part, the Deputy Director General of service at GSA, Dr. Poku Adusei congratulated Mr. Boadu for working for more than 3 decades, as it shows his humane nature. "
The Deputy General of GSA, Professor Alex Dodoo in his speech indicated that Mr. Boadu's legacy will be continued and will continue to count on his knowledge occasionally even in retirement.
"We are working to make sure we get some of his time so that we can tap into his knowledge time and time even as he is on retirement. I want to assure that the work he has started will not be left to die because I believe that GSA has gotten to a point where we have to be progressive and do things that gives us money coming from the work we do," Prof. Dodoo stated.
The former Standards Director succeeded in creating the Brong Ahafo regional office in Sunyani, and also ecured a land for GSA to develop an office in Kumasi. It was under his watch that the institution developed the National Builders Code.
In his final remarks to the staff of GSA, the former teacher of St. Peter's SHS recounted early moments in his career heading a tough post at the Metrology Directorate and how he manage to break through. Sharing an herculean task he had to endure, Mr. Boadu said, "We went to the Castle Filling Station to close it down for under delivering. I tell you, we were there when we had a call to stop the work and report to office in the next possible minute. This experience helped us to fortify our strategy for the next move after a month's break."
"My final advise to all is to note that, things you do for yourself are gone when you are no more, but the things you do for others remain as legacy. If you have the chance, what legacy do you intend to leave for GSA and others. Give it a deep thought" Mr. Boadu told the staff.
The day also marked the birthday of Mr. Boadu and the final day for the Human Resource Manager, Mrs. Harriet Bani.
A citation was also presented to the retired Inspector Director accompanied with some heartwarming presents and we'll wishes.
