The Chief Executive Officer of Humano Energy, an Oil Marketing Company, Dr. Richard Owusu Atuahene won the “Vanguard of Nature Award” at the recently held 1st Climate Benefit Dinner event organized by the Green Republic Project at the Holiday Inn Hotel, Airport City, Accra.
The well attended event brought together corporate champions and captains of industry, as well civil society organizations committed to the fight against the defining challenge of the time, climate change and global warming to wine and dine in support of planting 20million trees by the year 2028 as a natural climate action portfolio.
In his keynote address, the Convener of the Green Republic Project Nana Yaw Osei-Darkwa called on all Ghanaians to lend their support to the climate fight and not sit back and look on thinking it was the responsibility of government.
“The climate fight is our shared and collective responsibility which must be fought forcefully to ensure that we mitigate the devastating effects of climate change which does not only threaten our generation but generations unborn,” he stressed.
Nana Yaw Osei-Darkwa singled out Humano Energy under the leadership of its CEO, Dr. Richard Owusu Atuahene for praise and commendation for his total commitment and support to the Green Republic Project in its quest to plant 20million trees by the year 2028.
He intimated “Dr. Richard Owusu Atuahene did not hesitate a second to conclude that our initiative was worth supporting and committed to support it and true to his promise funded the planting of 7500 trees in Yong Dakpem Yili near Tamale and Sang in the Mion district of the Northern region”
The Green Republic Convener said the effort and commitment of Humano Energy is worth emulating and encouraged corporate bodies to commit to the fight against climate change due to its threat to humanity’s continuous existence. To appreciate the kind gesture of Humano Energy in the fight against Climate Change and global warming, Dr. Richard Owusu Atuahene was announced recipient of the only award for the evening “The Vanguard of Nature Award” for his commitment and dedication to the climate fight through restoration of nature.
In a subsequent interview with Dr. Richard Owusu Atuahene who was away on a working visit to Europe at the time of the event said “ I am really humbled by this recognition because our support of the Green Republic Project initiative of Planting 20million Trees by 2028 for me comes naturally because we owe it a duty to care for nature and for that matter the environment and that is exactly what motivated us to throw our support to that very good project. We pray and hope that we are able to even do more as we grow our young business, but cannot wait till we are big to support because we might all be consumed by the devastating effect of climate change and global warming before then”
Dr. Richard Owusu Atuahene expressed that happenings around the world clearly points to very troubling times ahead if humans do not act swiftly to reverse the climate threat and therefore called on all to lend support initiatives such as the Green Republic Project. He thanked organizers for the award and indicated that his Company was determined to do more in the coming years.
