Vodafone Ghana has picked up five prestigious awards at the ninth edition of the Ghana Information Technology and Telecoms Awards (GITTA) held in Accra.

A statement from Vodafone to the Ghana News Agency said the telecommunications company won the Telecom Business Provider of the Year award for the second consecutive year, and Wholesale Carrier of the Year.

The company’s socially impactful digital initiatives including the National Coding Programme, which was contributing to a digital revolution in Ghana, earned it the Corporate Social Responsibility Company of the Year, the statement said.

It said two senior executives of Vodafone Ghana were also recognised for their immense contribution to the growth of the industry.

Vodafone’s Technology Director, Srabasti Bhattarjee won Chief Technology Officer of the Year for, amongst other things and leading the company’s 4G deployment, the statement said.

It said Angela Mensah-Poku, the previous Director of Vodafone Business, also received special recognition for her outstanding contribution to the Enterprise sector.

She was singled out for introducing innovative products and initiatives that was fueling the growth and success of Small and Medium Scale Enterprises in the country.

The statement quoted Mrs Patricia Obo-Nai, the Chief Executive of Vodafone Ghana, as saying: “These awards are an endorsement of our promise to lead our customers and stakeholders on a journey to an exciting future.”

“In a world that is constantly changing, buoyed by the power of digital technology, we represent the confidence and optimism that are required for successful navigation. We dedicate these awards to our customers and employees for their loyalty and enormous contribution on this journey,’’ she added.
