Eleven commercial drivers arrested for various road traffic offences have been sentenced to fines totaling GH¢3,000.00.
The infractions included causing road obstruction, driving without licenses, refusing to wear seat belts and using faulty vehicles.
They all pleaded guilty and were ordered to pay between GH¢ 240.00 and GH¢360.00.
They would serve six months imprisonment in default of the payment of the fine.
Police Inspector Frimpong Manso told the court that their arrest followed a joint operation by officers from the police Motor Traffic and Transport Unit (MTTU) and the Driver and Vehicle License Authority in parts of the Kumasi Metropolis.**
