Winneba (C/R) Feb. 19 GNA-The Commissioner of Police in-charge of Administration, Mr. Safo Kwateng on Friday urged people who see the least infraction of a policeman as an opportunity to vent spleen on the Police like destruction of Police vehicles or attacking Police a station should realize that those properties are bought or constructed with the taxpayer's money.
"Such behavioural outburst are clear signs of criminality, which shall be met with reasonable force in future occurrence."
Mr. Kwateng said this when reviewing a passing-out ceremony of 152 Police Recruits made up of 50 women and 102 men after undergoing six months training at the Winneba Police Training School at Winneba. Among those who attended the ceremony were senior police officers from the Police Headquarters, Central Region and commanding officers from some Police Training Schools in the country.
They were trained, among others in criminal law, criminal procedure, criminal Investigation, Law of evidence, Musketry and intensive fiscal and instruction drills.
He said the maintenance of law and order needed the collaborative efforts of the Police and the populace and therefore, urged the peace living citizens of the respective communities to which these new constables would be working to morally and materially support them so that they deliver quality services to their satisfaction. Mr. Kwateng entreated the recruits to embrace the cardinal principle of discipline, which is the bedrock of the Service and warned that "under no circumstance could undisciplined individual be accommodated in the service".
The Police Administrator said that, of late, isolated acts of indiscipline from service personnel have been gradually tarnishing the enviable image of the Service that the Police Administration with a lot of commitment and determination has recently built.
He told them that they are bound to encounter numerous challenging and frustrating situations, but it they are guided by the tenets of their training and learn from their seniors they would be able to handle such situation appropriately.
Six of them were awarded for their distinguish performance during their training with General Recruit Davis Sassou receiving the best Academician and Overall best recruit Awards.
