The Western Forward Operating Base (FOB West) of Operation Vanguard has arrested two Chinese at Bredi in the Amenfi Central District of the Western Region.

The two suspects were arrested by the joint anti-illegal mining (galamsey) taskforce at a mining site engaging in galamsey operation last week Friday.

The names of the two Chinese were given as Liq Zing Xeon, 52 and Mo Quo Wei, 48.

Squadron Leader Robison Omane Agyei, Public Relations Officer (PRO) of Operation Vanguard, revealed this to DAILY GUIDE.

He indicated that the team chanced on two excavators and immobilized them.

“The team also immobilized two engines, one washing machine, 13 changfans and four water pumps,” he indicated.

Squadron Leader Omane Agyei said that the seized items and the suspects had been handed over to the Agona police for further investigation and possible prosecution.

The Operation Vanguard PRO thanked the general public for furnishing the taskforce with information that had led to the arrest of some illegal miners.

He pleaded with all Ghanaians to keep on providing information through the various media houses in their locations.

“Let us help protect our water bodies and forest reserves to save Ghana now and in the future,” he appealed to the citizenry.
