The Adabraka police are currently holding two persons for allegedly attempting to steal GH¢450,000 from a popular bank at the Ring Road Central branch.

The suspects, purportedly using a software, were said to have transferred some money from an unknown source into their personal accounts and attempted to cash it when they were apprehended.

They are 37-year-old George Asante and Millicent Brown.

Their alleged accomplice, who is believed to be the leader of the gang identified only as Dickson, is at large and is being hunted by the police.

Confirming the story to DAILY GUIDE, Chief Superintendent Kwesi Ofori, Adabraka District Police Commander, said the suspects, who claimed to be a businessman and a woman were arrested separately on October 5, 2016.

He said the bank (name withheld) for the past two months had a system breakdown and as a result, several attempts had been made by some unscrupulous persons to steal monies from its coffers.

On October 5, 2016, officials of the bank detected that an amount of GH¢500,000 had been transferred into Premium IT Limited account with number 1010104082501 from an unknown source.

He said an alert was placed for the arrest of any person who attempted to withdraw the said money.

On that same day at about 9:40 am, George Asante reportedly stormed the bank with a cheque of GH¢450,000 to the ring road branch of the bank to cash it but he was immediately arrested and handed over to the police.

Upon interrogation, he mentioned Millicent Brown and Dickson as his accomplices. Brown was also arrested for investigation.

Dickson, believed to be hiding around Gbawe in the Ga South District, Kaneshie and Sowutoum, upon hearing the arrest of his accomplices, bolted.

The arrested two have provisionally been charged for stealing and are being processed for court.
