2 suspected criminals escape from police custody

Two suspected criminals, who were being held in police custody at Tepa in the Ahafo-Ano North District, have escaped.

Shadrack Nyame and Ernest Owusu-Afram, were reported to have broken through the window of the cell of the local police station.

Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Kofi Dwomfour Berchie, the Divisional Crime Officer, confirmed the incident to the Ghana News Agency (GNA), and said it happened at about 0200 hours on Tuesday.

ACP Berchie said the Police have launched a manhunt to re-arrest the escapees.

Meanwhile, officers on duty at the time, have been given 10 days to produce the law breakers, or face sanctions.
