A 24 year old who conspired with a friend to rob his septuagenarian father of his GH? 6,260.00, run out of luck when half pair of his accomplice's footwear got stuck in the mud as they were running away with the booty.
This happened at Gulumpe in the Kintampo North Municipality on November 2, October 2, 2015, and Ibrahim Seidu together with Amadu, Nuhu, 27, both Fulanis have already been arraigned before the Jema Magistrate Court in that Municipality.
Briefing the media in Sunyani on Thursday Police Superintendent Alhaji Maama Arhin stated that their pleas were not taken and have been remanded into prison custody.
Seidu is said to have informed his friend that his 72 year old father, Seidu Alhassan, had sold his fat cow and kept the money in the house and on the said date at about 0200, after a heavy down pour, the two armed with locally-manufactured pistols forcibly entered his father’s room.
At gun-point, they tied the old man's hands and legs and threw him out of him room’s window.
They then ransacked the room for the cash and bolted, but luck eluded them as the half pair of Amadu’s canvass shoes got stuck in the mud when they were fleeing the scene, this later served as a ‘natural forensic’.
Superintendent Arhin said neighbours got attracted to the scene, when the fear-gripped old Alhassan, in a trembling voice raised an alarm.
Neighbours on seeing bold footprints etched in the mud, got suspicious and this was carefully traced to Amadu’s house where the other pair of the footwear was found.
Amadu was then arrested when the old man made a complaint to the Jema Police, after initial police interrogation, he mentioned Seidu as the one who contracted him for the crime.
