Two Fulani herdsmen together with one other person believed to be their aide, have been sentenced to a total fine of GH?5,400.00 by the Juaso Circuit Court for illegally entering the North Bandai Forest Reserve with their cattle.

Mohammed Yaro, Amadu Huseini and Emmanuel Amawuga were charged with pasturing cattle in a reserve without authority and they pleaded guilty.

They were each ordered to pay GH?1,800.00 and would serve a jail term of 18 months should they fail to pay the money.

Detective Chief Inspector Thomas Obuor told the court, presided over by Mr. Fredrick Tetteh, that the trio committed the offence on January 19.

A team of forest guards who were on routine patrol duty spotted them in the reserve near Kansanso on the Agogo portion of the Afram Plains, arrested and handed them over to the police.
