A 55-year-old man will spend the next 15 years behind bars for defiling a 10-year-old pupil (name withheld).

Kwabena Boateng was found guilty by the Juaso circuit court in the Ashanti Region, presided over by Abdul Yusif Asibey.

The convict pleaded guilty to the charge of defilement and he was sentenced on his own plea on November 1, 2017.

ASP Samuel Azugu, Agogo District Police Commander, confirmed the incident to DAILY GUIDE during an interview.

He said Kwabena Boateng and the victim are both residents of Hamidu, a village near Agogo in the Ashanti Region.

ASP Azugu disclosed that the defilement happened on October 16, this year, at about 12:30 pm at Hamidu village.

The victim was returning from a dump site when the convict lured her into his room and forcibly had sexual intercourse with her.

ASP Azugu claimed that after the act, the victim informed her father, who was joined by other community members to arrest Boateng.

He said after thorough investigations, the police arraigned Kwabena Boateng before the court, where he was sentenced to an imprisonment term of 15 years in hard labour, after he had been found guilty of the crime.
