Kumasi, Aug. 17, GNA - A 59- year-old "Watchman" has been sentenced to 20 years imprisonment by a Kumasi Circuit Court for defiling an 11-year-old class four pupil at Anloga in Kumasi. Mensah Korvir pleaded guilty. The Court presided over by Mr Emmanuel Amoa-Yartey heard that the convict was a "watchman" at the school the girl attends. On August 7, 2009, at about 1200 hours, the victim's senior sister chanced upon Korvir sexually abusing the victim. Police Chief Inspector Comfort Baffour Kyei told the court that the sister quickly ran to the house to inform the parents. A formal report was subsequently made to the police leading to his arrest.

She said, police investigations uncovered that Korvir had earlier on two separate occasions defiled the victim and warned her never to disclose her ordeal to anyone. The convict in his caution statement admitted the offence and pleaded for forgiveness.
