6 Police recruits grabbed with fake documents

Six males who applied for enlist­ment into the Ghana Police Service in Kumasi in the Ashanti region have been arrested for allegedly fal­sifying their documents.

They are Atta Aggrey Marfo, 22, Bosompem Appiah, 23, Baffuor Kyei Emmanuel, 21, Boateng Frimpong Randolf, 24, Kofi Nti, 20, and Kuma Richard, 25.

The six suspects allegedly falsi­fied their documents in an attempt to outwit officials at the Police Training School at Patase to get enlisted.

ACP Dr. Sayibu Gariba, Deputy Regional Police Commander, Upper West, who is in charge of the Ashanti Regional Police Enlistment Team, disclosed this to the media.

He said police personnel at the training school, who properly scruti­nized all documents submitted by the applicants, discovered the fake documents on Monday.

ACP Gariba said the six suspects would be handed over to the Crimi­nal Investigations Department (CID) in Kumasi for further investigations that would lead to their prosecution.

He announced that a total of 4,500 applicants, including 1,500 females, applied for enlistment into the police service in the Ashanti region.

The police, he said, would criti­cally analyse the documents and body of all the applicants from Mon­day to possibly Wednesday in order to select qualified applicants.

ACP Gariba disclosed that the applicants are supposed to be between the ages of 18 and 25, adding that the males should be 5.8 feet tall, and the females should be 5.4 feet.

According to him, those that would eventually be short-listed would be made to write aptitude test after which they would go to the police training school.
