Techiman, (B/A) April 4, GNA - The Techiman Circuit Court has sentenced a 67-year-old watch repairer to 25 years imprisonment, in hard labour for defiling a 10-year old pupil and infecting her with HIV. Mustapha Issaka, pleaded guilty to defiling the primary three pupil. Prosecuting, Police Chief Inspector Sampson Y. Jebuni, told the Court presided over by Mr Justice Eramus Gyinae, a High Court Judge sitting at Techiman as a Circuit Court Judge, that the girl informed her parents that Issaka had forcibly had sexual intercourse with her on two occasions, leaving her in great pain.

He said the accused chased the victim, captured and sent her to a thicket where he defiled her for the second time. Inspector Jebuni said a medical report revealed that the girl had been raped and was HIV positive.

Mr Justice Gyinae said the behaviour of the accused should not be tolerated by a law court and deserved the maximum sentence to serve as deterrent to other rapists.
