Accra, Jan. 6, GNA - Sulley Mohammed, a 38-year-old businessman, had the shock of his life when an Accra Circuit Court on Wednesday sentenced him to eight years imprisonment for stealing.
Sulley who pleaded not guilty, started shivering, sweating and standing in the dock and gazed into the ceiling and shook his head. The court presided over by Mrs. Ivy Heward-Mills in her ruling, said the prosecution had proved its case beyond all reasonable doubt that Sulley committed the crime.
Police Chief Inspector Ben Darfour, prosecuting told the court that sometime in October 2007, the complainant Alhaji Ahmed Yusifu, a businessman, gave the accused GHC9,700 to change into dollars at a forex bureau but after the transaction, he went into hiding and a report was made to the police who arrested the accused and after investigations, charged with the offence. 6 Jan. 10
