The ordeal of a pregnant woman who was kidnapped only to return home without her pregnancy or baby, had put fear in the residents of Atadeka and Kubekru, near Ashaiman.
The victim, a first time pregnant woman, whose date was due, was abducted from her house, with her baby delivered and stolen.
Mr Kingford Amin Idris, spokesman for concerned parents of the area, told the Ghana News Agency that the lady went to bath at an adjourning bathhouse at her residence at dawn on June 18, and did not return to her matrimonial bed.
According to him, the husband of the victim became alarmed when he returned home from work and saw the wife's mobile phone and delivery bag in the room, an indication that she could not have gone to the hospital to deliver.
Mr Idris said the family therefore reported the matter to the Police, and mounted a search for her.
He told the GNA that at about 22:00 hours, the woman appeared without her baby or the pregnancy.
He said the victim allegedly informed relatives that when she was returning from the bath house, a man grabbed her from behind and pushed her into a waiting car.
She was then sent into a bush where she saw two men, one old woman, and a young woman wearing masks.
According to Mr Idris, the old woman delivered her of her son, cleaned her and provided her with clothing and slippers.
According to the victim, one of the abductors threatened to kill her, but the others stopped him with the explanation that it was the baby they needed.
The victim was then put in a vehicle and abandoned at a junction near her house from where she managed to get to her residence.
Mr Idris said the victim was currently receiving medical attention.
This comes on the heels of several unsolved murders, kidnaps and harassment in the area.
It will be recalled that some few months ago, a seven year old girl who was sent to buy bread was later found dead in a kiosk in the area.
The spokesperson appealed to security agencies to do more to ensure the safety of residents in the area.
He also called for war to be waged on land guard activities in the area, saying that could also be a contributory factor.
