Sekondi, March 3 - GNA -Vivien Osei, a 23-year wife of a Policeman, collapsed and was rushed to the Effia-Nkwanta Regional Hospital shortly after a Sekondi District Magistrate's Court remanded her in Prison custody for allegedly causing harm.
The accused who had pleaded not guilty to the charge was to re-appear on March 17 this year.
Prosecuting, Police Chief Inspector Joe Hedidor said sometime in December last year, the husband of the accused collected the mobile phone of Betty Solomon, a drinking bar operator at Sawmill, to repair it for her.
He said on February 12 this year, Solomon was going to the Kwesimintsim Police Barracks to collect her phone from the husband of the accused when she met him at the gate of the Police Station.
Chief Inspector Hedidor said when the complainant demanded her phone, the husband of the accused took out his own mobile from his pocket and told her that even his phone was not working.
He said the reply angered the complainant who seized the mobile phone of the husband of the accused.
Chief Inspector Hedidor said this resulted in an argument between the two and in the process, the husband of the accused snatched her bag and took away his phone.
He said the complainant made a report at the charge office but the accused appeared on the scene and beat the complainant with a belt until she sustained injuries on her face.
Chief Inspector Hedidor said the accused also destroyed a radio set valued at 200,000 cedis at the charge office and the officer in-charge had her arrested.
