The Chief Executive Officer for Akuapim South District has been robbed at gunpoint.
The unidentified armed robbers took away some jewelry other personal belongings of Mr. Winston Afari-Gyan.
The incident which happened last week at the residence of the District Chief Executive also saw the armed robbers taking away the mobile phones of the government’s representative in the District.
It is however, not clear what motivated this robbery attack on the DCE.
A very close relative (name withheld) of the DCE who is familiar with the incident told Kasapafmonline.com that the armed robbers came in demanding for money.
“They came in demanding for money. They thought the NDC has giving him some money for campaign purposes and so decided to attack him and take the money away from him. They didn’t succeed because he had no money on him. Because they didn’t get what they were looking for, they decided to take away the ring, mobile phones and some other valuables of the DCE,” the family relation of the DCE who wants to remain anonymous told Kasapafmonline.com.
Unfolding events suggest that the attack on the DCE is from his political party, the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC).
The armed robbers are reported to have harbored the belief that the DCE was keeping some campaign funds and therefore, decided to rob him of the said money.
Reports from Aburi indicate that three persons have been arrested in connection to the said robbery attack on the DCE.
One of the arrested, this website understand, is a teacher at an educational complex (name withheld) in Aburi that belongs to the DCE.
