A 35-year-old man has butchered his one-year-old step son to death.
Kwasi Martin also inflicted machete wounds on his ex-wife and a man who attempted to arrest him.
The incident took place at Akwatia GCD Camp in the Demkyembour District of the Eastern region.
The step son died instantly. The body has been deposited at the Akwatia St Dominic Hospital Morgue awaiting autopsy.
His ex-wife Theresa Nyarko, 24 years and the male victim have been hospitalised.
Akwatia Police Commander, ASP Francis Aboagye told Heritage newspaper Reporter Kojo Ansah in an interview that the suspect is from Suhum while the ex-wife stays with her parents at Akwatia.
According to the Police, the suspect on Wednesday visited the ex-wife at Akwatia.
ASP Aboagye said minutes later, the tenants in the house heard screams from the former couple’s room and rushed in there only to find the little boy lying dead in a pool of blood while the suspect inflicted machete wounds on his ex-wife’s stomach.
The suspect, according to the Police attempted suicide by drinking an insecticide, but was arrested and sent to St. Dominic Hospital for treatment.
