The embattled ?interdicted? Director of the Ghana School of Law (GSL), obviously seeking to gag the press, has sued some leading media houses. This time, it is over two stories written about him in the Wednesday, August 3, edition of The Chronicle.

In his suit against the General Portfolio Limited, publishers of The Chronicle and three of its reporters, Multimedia Broadcasting Company Limited, owners of Joy FM, Despite Company Limited, owners of Peace FM and Global Industries Limited, owners of Happy FM, Ansa Asare is seeking general damages for what he claimed were libelous articles about him, as shown in The Chronicle?s publication under the headline: ?EXPOSED-THE ANSA-ASARE PROFILE -An investor also pursues the Law School boss.?

Claiming that each and every one of the allegations in the articles was false, He stated that the so-called defamatory materials in the articles were republished through its broadcast on FM radios in Ghana and on the Internet by Joy FM, Peace FM and Happy FM on the same day.

Ansa-Asare said Joy FM, for example, gave extensive electronic and on-line coverage of it in its newspaper review on the same day and advised their listeners to read the details at Myjoyonline.com.

He insisted that by the extensive publication of the articles, he had been ?depicted as a dishonest person and a lawyer unfit to hold the office of Director of Legal Education of the Ghana School of Law.?

It might be recalled that Mr. Ansa-Asare had already sued The Chronicle on July 22, this year, for general damages he claimed had emanated from another publication.

Notwithstanding these suits, The Chronicle wishes to assure its numerous readers that it is not perturbed, and will continue with its watchdog role, pursuant to article 162 of the Constitution of the Republic of Ghana, which would be its guide in court.

Meanwhile, the paper already has in its custody, all the materials that formed the basis of the publications, and even more pour in. In short, come high or low water, we are battle ready.
