Hohoe, April 25, GNA-Three armed robbers last Monday at about 0130 hours stormed the East Shell Filling Station at Hohoe, shot the attendant Mr Emmanuel Zokli in the arm and escaped with 60 million cedis.
Mr Kofi Ellis, Managing Director of the Filling station told the Ghana News Agency (GNA), that he had a distress call regarding the robbery and on arrival at the station he saw his attendant in a pool of blood and subsequently rushed him to the hospital.
Mr Zokli is on admission at the Hohoe Government hospital. Mr Moshood Abiola a driver who said he was an eyewitness told the GNA that he bumped into the armed robbers at the filling Station but they ordered him to leave the scene, which he did but saw them escape into the bush behind the Filling station.
Mr Frank Naami, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) in-charge of the Hohoe District who confirmed the incident urged the public to volunteer information that would lead to the arrest of the robbers. In a related incident, the Hohoe Police have arrested Hayford Affrem 21 years, a bicycle repairer and Maclean Ankude 18 years, unemployed for robbing the residence of Mr Frank Strobel, Managing Director (MD) of Tropical Farms at Gbefi-Torme in the Hohoe district. Two of their accomplices are however on the run. According to Mr Naami, Affrem and Ankude and their two accomplices now on the run entered Mr Strobel's residence at Gbefi, held his house-help hostage at gun point and took away a 20-inch colour television, two video decks a compact disk album a pair of canvas shoes, 20,000 cedis and the house-help's wrist watch. He said the stolen items except the television set were retrieved from a nearby bush.

Following intelligence reports the Police at Kpando arrested Emmanuel Ekor, father of one of those who robbed Mr Strobel. In a search of his residence at house number KJ 47, at Kpando-Gabi the Police were able to retrieve a television set wrapped in a polythene wrapper under a heap of sand he was using in moulding blocks. Acting on another intelligence report the Hohoe Police on April 13 this year also arrested Mr. Sylvester Dotse, a blacksmith of Gbi-Wegbe alleged to be a manufacturer of fire-arms for sale to armed robbers. In his possession were pieces of unassembled parts of a locally made pistol together with a locally made pistol and police Brunei Pistol.
