Tema, April 03, GNA - The Tema Regional Police Command on Sunday said armed robbers have now adopted new tactics of changing original vehicles numbers for their robbery operation.

Briefing newsmen at Tema after impounding one of such vehicles used by the robbers, Assistant Commissioner of Police Daniel Laryea Odai said robbers now use cellotape to cover some of the original vehicle registration numbers to read a different number.

He said in the night of Sunday, the Tema Police patrol team spotted a taxi cub with a strange number GB 8758 S and this aroused the suspicion of the personnel.

The occupants sped off when the police approached but they bust a tyre, abandoned the vehicle and took to their heel.

He said police found the original number plate which was GR 8153 S, an AK 47 magazine containing 13 rounds of live ammunition, a State Insurance number 0066174 bearing the name Mr Frank Baiden, a driver's license bearing the name Mr Yaro Yaw and a military camouflage cap. Mr Odai appealed to the public to help trace the occupants and owner of the vehicle.
