Asamankese court to give judgement on stealing case

Asamankese, Nov. 20, GNA - The Asamankese Circuit Court will on December 21 give judgement in a case in which a horticulturist, Abass Antwi, 41, has been charged with stealing cocoa belonging to his uncle. Antwi pleaded not guilty.

Police Chief Inspector Kate Ogyiri said in 1970 Solomon Osei Sarkodie inherited the property of the accused person's father following his death. He said in 2000 the accused started claiming ownership of his late father's property including a cocoa farm and a house. Sakordie sued the accused before a High court in Koforidua and judgement was given in his favour.

The prosecutor said in October 2008, Antwi re-surfaced and threatened to take possession of his late father's cocoa farm and a house. He said in September last year the complainant travelled to his hometown, Asante Mampong, and on his return he had information that the had harvested quantity of cocoa pods from his farm. A complaint was lodged with the police and the accused was arrested.
