The office of Albert Boakye Okyere, the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) of Ashaiman in the Greater Accra Region, was burgled at dawn yesterday.
The invaders allegedly used a ladder to climb into the office which is at the first floor of the Ashaiman Municipal Assembly (ASHMA) building and broke one of the sliding glass windows to get access into the premises.
This incident comes barely a week after Mr Boakye Okyere’s official residence at Community 22, a suburb of Ashaiman, was also raided by some unidentified criminals who made away with items, including a flat-screen TV set.
The Bureau of National Investigation (BNI) in collaboration with the Ashaiman police, has launched full-scale investigations into the incidents.
Currently, the security officials have sealed off the office as investigations continue.
Mr. Okyere is currently operating from the Assembly Hall as his temporary office until the security officials conclude the investigations.
Concerns have been raised about moves by the MCE to ensure full-scale investigations into activities of his predecessor over some alleged dubious contracts.
Some members of the assembly have attributed the raids to political agitation which must be seriously looked at by the security agents.
Confirming the incident to DAILY GUIDE, Mr. Okyere said that the two incidents baffled him, saying that the attackers have hidden agenda.
According to him, he’s not feeling jittery over the attacks.
He maintained that he would continue to investigate all documents available to him and visit departmental sites to have first-hand information of the situation on the ground.
Meanwhile, a police source told DAILY GUIDE that the MCE was unavailable when the two incidents occurred.
