A 41-year-old man of God, Reverend Emmanuel Boadu has been charged to pay Ghc 1440 to Assin Fosu District Court for allegedly lying before the court.

Police Prosecutor Chief Inspector Gilbert Ayongo told the court that, Rev. Emmanuel Boadu officially wedded Millicent Agyapong Boadu at Assin Fosu on the 7 Jan 2001; he left Assin Fosu for Afiduase near Koforidua in the Eastern region where his church is located, leaving the woman all alone at Assin Fosu.

The Prosecutor continued that, the Reverend Minister officially wedded another woman Rita Agyapong Boadu at Afiduase.

The complainant (first wife) after finding out what her husband had done then filed a case at the Assin Fosu District court.

The Prosecutor said, on the 5th April 2019, Rev. Boadu lied to the Presiding Judge His Worship Samuel Djanie Kotey that he has not married a second wife as it was being speculated by the complainant.

Upon investigations, the second wife Mrs. Rita Agyapong Boadu was contacted and appeared before the court yesterday, she confirmed that she is legally married to Rev. Boadu and further backed her comment with wedding pictures they took on their wedding day.

The Assin Fosu District Court Presided over by His Worship Samuel Djanie Kotey upon hearing this ordered Rev. Emmanuel Boadu to pay a sum of Ghc 1,440 for lying to the court or face two months imprisonment.

The Man of God made an instant payment to the court, so he was ordered to marry the two unless one of them files for divorce.
