Accra, May 19, GNA - An Accra Circuit court on Monday granted a GH¢4,000 bail with two surety to an auto-mechanic charged for unlawfully causing harm. Mr Anthony Doe-Tay, the accused, pleaded guilty with explanation. However, the court presided over by Justice Sedina Agbemava entered a plea of not guilty for him, explaining that in law there was nothing like pleading guilty with explanation. Justice Agbemava further advised the accused and the complainant, Madam Norberta Tomati to find a way to settle the case out of court before June 9, 2011 the adjourned date. Chief Inspector Adamu Awal, giving the facts of the case, said the complainant, a hairdresser and the accused an auto-mechanic had been married until about a year ago when the marriage was terminated.

On May 3 this year, the complainant went to the accused house around 2000 hours to give him a letter (summons) from the Legal Aid Board, but the accused person refused to take the letter and that resulted in a scuffle between them. In the process, the accused person twisted the arm of the complainant=. A medical examination from the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital indicated the complainant had a fractured left arm. In a statement by the accused, he said, the complainant held his testicles and it was while he was preventing her from harming him that they both fell and the complainant hurt her arm.
