Bibiani Police search for murderers of nursing mother

Bibiani (W/R) July 31, GNA - The Bibiani Police has launched an investigation to track down those behind the gruesome murder of a teenage nursing mother, Akua Nyamekye, at Sefwi-Baakokrom, near Bibiani. The deceased, 18, was killed on her farm on Monday, July 27. Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Sampson Anane-Appiah, the Bibiani District Police Commander, told the Ghana News Agency (GNA) that Nyamekye went to the farm on the said day carrying with her, her four month-old baby.

He said when it got late and she had not returned a search party was organized to look for her.

On the farm, members of the group were attracted by the shrill cry of a baby and rushed to scene.

"There, they saw a pitiful spectacle, as they saw the baby boy lying beside the lifeless body of the mother," he said The Police Commander said upon close examination, it was detected that some parts of the body had been removed. The body has since been deposited at the Bibiani Government Hospital. Meanwhile, DSP Anane-Appiah has appealed to the public to assist the Police with information to unmask and bring to justice her killers.
