The Brong Ahafo Police Command which has confirmed the arrest of the two suspects believed to have fueled the insecurity at Sankore late week, will be arraigned before a court today, April 4, 2018 on various charges.
Chief Inspector Kinsley Oppong, the Public Relations Officer of the Brong Ahafo Regional Police Command has disclosed this to a section of the media assuring there is uneasy calm in the area and adding that the Member of Parliament Hon. Eric Opoku who was attacked and property vandalized late last week is also doing well.
Hon. Eric Opoku, Member of Parliament for Asunafo South Constituency was attacked by some youth who are alleged to be members of the Ruling Party New Patriotic Party (NPP).
According to reports, the youth vandalized the MP’s house smashing the windscreen of his vehicle leaving two people injured.
The other two injured were later treated and discharged from the hospital, police command has confirmed.
Chief Inspector Oppong also indicated that security has been stepped up in the area with a contingent of armed police and military personnel deployed to the area.
Sankore, a community in Asunafo South Constituency in the Brong Ahafo Region has experience insecurity due to political instability between some alleged NDC and NPP factions in the area.
The chief of the community, Nana Okogyedom Appiah Kubi Okatakyie IV has called for a dusk to dawn curfew to be imposed on his community to bring sanity.
