Six persons including a 10-year-old boy, on Friday, appeared before the Mpraeso Circuit Court for stealing.
They are alleged to have used the boy to break into a container and stole 28 pieces of Kente cloth and seven pieces of ordinary clothes valued at GH¢7,500 at Nkawkaw.
They pleaded not guilty to charges of causing unlawful damage and stealing and were granted GH¢7,000 bail each with one surety to be justified.
The accused persons are Kwaku Stephen, the teenager, Sheriff Mohamed, Aziz Mohamed, Mohamed Ali, Ali Abubakari and Yaw Somuah alias (IGP), who are all scrap dealers at Nkawkaw.
According to Inspector Yaw Apronti, the prosecutor, on January 24, this year, a complainant reported to the Police that her container had been broken into and the items stolen.
Police later went to the scene and found a cutter and screw driver used by the accused persons to commit the crime.
The prosecutor said the boy was arrested later in connection with another theft case and during interrogation, he confessed that he and the other accused persons broke into the container and stole the items.
The boy then described to the Police how he was pushed into the small hole in the container created by the thieves and brought the things out which were later sold and he was given only five cedis.
The prosecutor said that led to the arrest of the other five accused persons at their workshop and search conducted found three pieces of the cloth, which were identified by the complaint as some of her missing items.
The case had been adjourned to July 05.
