Boy kills pal in Kumasi

A minor misunderstanding between two boys at Kwadaso, a suburb of Kumasi, over who had the right to sell firewood, turned bloody when one of them killed the other on Saturday.

Twenty-year-old Isaac Beterh, popularly known as Awanaa, met his untimely death after his colleague, Kofi Teiku, inflicted fatal injuries on him during the ensuing brawl.

The incident happened around 9:30 am at a wood milling company where both the deceased and suspect worked as porters.

Isaac Beterh was said to have been stabbed several times in the neck and arms by his assailant colleague, Kofi Tieku, 17, with a pair of scissors, in a fight over the sale of split wood to be used as firewood.

DSP Vitus Napen, the Suntreso District Police Commander, who confirmed the incident, told DAILY GUIDE the deceased was allegedly stabbed by Teiku, who was in a fit of over who had the right to sell the firewood. He stated that the deceased was initially taken to the SDA Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

His body had since been deposited at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital while the suspect remained in police custody pending investigations, DSP Napen added.

He explained that the two had a disagreement over who had the right to sell the pieces of wood as firewood, and the misunderstanding degenerated into a full blown fight during which the suspected killer stabbed Beterh.
