Robert Gyamesi, a businessman on Tuesday appeared before an Accra Circuit Court for allegedly stealing 13,500 liters of diesel at a cost of GHc43,605.00.

The accused pleaded not guilty, and the court presided over by Mrs Awo Malike Dey admitted Gyamesi to a bail in the sum of GHc50,000.00 with two sureties one of whom must be a public servant.

Gyamesi will reappear on November 7.

Prosecuting Detective Chief Inspector Isaac Agbemahia said Mr Kwabena Mensah Aacht and Gyamesi are businessmen residing at Tema and Santase Anyiman respectively.

Chief Inspector Agbemahia said on June 23, last year, Gyamesi asked a witness in the case who was his manager to go for fuel from the complainant and that he would pay back in two weeks.

Prosecution said the complainant supplied the fuel but Gyamesi failed to pay for it and went into hiding.

“All efforts by the complainant to get his money from the accused person failed, he reported the matter to the Police and the accused was arrested at his hideout,” prosecution said.

The prosecution said that during investigations, Gyamesi refunded GHc8,000.00.
