Daniel Deku, a businessman accused of breaking into cars and making away with monies and other valuables, was on Monday sentenced to 24 months' imprisonment by an Accra Circuit Court.

This was after Daniel Deku was found guilty on the charges of causing unlawful damage and stealing.

On the charge of causing unlawful damage, Deku was ordered by the court to serve nine months in prison while on the charge of stealing, he was sentenced to 24 months’ imprisonment. The sentences are to run concurrently.

Deku was also ordered by the Court to compensate Mr. Samuel Ofori Adjei, the complainant, with GH¢13,000.00.

Prosecuting, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Man-Anit Sampana, said on July 26, last year, the Regional Police Command received information that a group of young men were engaged in robbery activities at the Kwame Nkrumah Circle Interchange.

Prosecution said Antwi led the Police to arrest Deku at his residence at Bortianor.

When Deku’s residence was searched the Police found assorted car keys, diaries, ladies bags, medical equipment, phones, jewelleries, watches, pen drives and complimentary cards, which were suspected to have been stolen from their respective owners.

On July 26, last year, the Police made several publications in the media, which attracted the attention of victims including Mr Adjei.
