An Accra Circuit Court on Thursday remanded a 39 year- old Carpenter, Benjamin Danso for possessing fire arm and ammunition without lawful authority.

Benjamin pleaded not guilty to the charge but was remanded into police custody to reappear on April 21, for trial.

Police Chief Inspector Kwabena Adu presenting the facts of the case told the court that the complainant, Paul Mensah is a security man at Toppers Hotel located at St John’s, a suburb of Accra, while the accused person lives at Nanakrom.

He said on March 31, at about 04:00 hours, the accused person together with a lady checked into the hotel. Later in the day Benjamin checked out without paying his bills.

The prosecution said the receptionist confronted him to demand the bill per the rules and regulations of the hotel, but a misunderstanding ensued between them, which drew the attention of the complainant who was in a nearby room.

He said in the event, the complainant suspected Benjamin’s behaviour and conducted a search on him. Three live ammunitions were found in his pocket.

Police Chief Inspector Adu said the complainant arrested Benjamin and handed him over to the police.

He told the court that upon interrogation, the accused person mentioned one Sait as the one who gave him the ammunition but could not lead the police to arrest him.
