Mankranso (Ash), April 24, GNA - A 32-year-old chain saw operator of Ahwerewam in the Ahafo-Ano South District has been remanded by the Mankranso magistrate's court for slashing four fingers of his former girl friend.

Kwabena Nyame, alias Aboataa pleaded guilty with explanation and will re-appear on April 26.

Prosecuting, Police Chief Inspector Edwin Dei-Offei told the court presided over by Mr Frank Owusu-Afriyie that the accused and Akosua Amoa, were former lovers.

For the past one year the relationship had turned sour following threats, resulting in Akosua's decision to end the relationship. The prosecution said the decision of Akosua to call it quits with the accused did not go down well with him and accused pleaded with her to rescind her decision through some elders of the town, but Akosua remained adamant and stuck to her decision.

Inspector Dei-Offei said Nyame who got peeved with Akosua's belligerence then decided to teach her a lesson, and so on February 7, this year, accused trailed complainant while she was going to her farm. On reaching the farm, accused appeared from behind and in the course of wrestling off a sharp cutlass she was holding from her, four of Akosua's fingers were slashed.

Farmers nearby responded quickly to Akosua's scream for help, arrested Nyame and handed him over to the police. 24 April 05
