Hohoe, Feb. 17, GNA - Samuel Kofi Fiakuma, farmer and regent of Leklebi Dafor, has been remanded by a Hohoe Circuit court for allegedly murdering a relative, John Kpogli, farmer and hunter.
Mr. Benjamin Dadzie, Assistant Superintendent of Police, told the court presided over by Mr. Edward Apenkwa that Fiakuma went hunting grass-cutters which were destroying his maize farm at Asiaveto. He said Fiakuma said while on the farm at about 0530 hours, an animal that looked like an antelope started chasing him. Fiakuma said he ran to safety and shot at the antelope which turned out to be the late Kpogli in a pool of blood. Mr Dadzie said Fiakuma raised an alarm for assistance but it was evident that Kpogli was dead.
Mr. Dadzie said a report was made to the Police leading to Fiakuma's arrest.
In a related development, Richard Nyanu has been remanded by the same court for possessing narcotic drugs. He pleaded not guilty and would reappear on February 23. Mr. Dadzie said Nyanu was arrested by the Akpafu Odomi watchdog committee on suspicion of stealing items including weedicides and Nokia phones belonging to one Hayford Atando. He said when a search was conducted in Nyanu's room some items including a quantity of dried leaves suspected to be cannabis weighing 154 grammes were found.
