Akyem Swedru(E/R), May 31, GNA 96 The Akyem Swedru Circuit Court was momentarily turned into a church on Tuesday when the Presiding Judge, Mr Edward Kwame Bosompem Apenkwah advised a Convict to accept Jesus Christ as his personal saviour.

Mr Apenkwah gave the advice while sentencing Kofi Larry, a 23-year-old Driver's Mate to six months=92 imprisonment for threatening to harm a Driver.

The convict had claimed that he went to collect juju from a man in Sunyani and that the juju was responsible for his bad behaviour. Larry, who was convicted on his own plea of guilty to a charge of threatening, issued a threat to harm Mr Kwadwo Dafour a-25-year-old driver at Akyem Achiase in the Birim South District. Prosecuting, Police Inspector Charles Quaye told the Court that on May 27, while Dafour was in his house with a witness in the case at about 1230 hours, Larry emerged holding a kitchen knife and asked of one Kudjo.

When Dafour replied that there was no such person in the house, Larry became offended and started issuing threats and all of a sudden advanced towards Dafour but he was restrained by one Jerry John Ankan, who managed to collect the knife from him. The Prosecution said, while Dafour was going to the Police station to lodge a complaint, the Convict again attacked him on the way; held him by the shirt and threatened to kill him with another knife he had hidden in his trousers.

Some onlookers managed to rescue Dafour and forced Larry into a car and took him to the Akyem Achiase Police Station.

At the Police station, Larry, who looked worried and dejected during interrogation, told the Police that he went in for juju from Sunyani for self-defence and that was disturbing him. Inspector Quaye said Larry claimed that the juju man instructed him to shed human blood or to destroy the juju whenever he was having problems with it.

He said the Police escorted Larry to his residence where he brought out the juju and burnt it before he became sober.
