A 20 year-old farmer, who allegedly stabbed his brother Kwasi Kwarteng at Bawdiekrom near Asankragwa in the Western region, has been granted GH¢ 10,000.00 bail with two sureties, by the Tarkwa Circuit Court.
The accused person, Kofi Gyasi pleaded not guilty to causing harm. He would re-appear before the court on November 24.
Police Chief Inspector Edward Paddy told the court that the complainant, Stephen Sakyiem, is a farmer and resides in the same area at Bawdiekrom with the victim and Kofi Gyasi.
He said there was a dispute between the accused person and his siblings over a piece of land.
The Prosecutor said at about 1800 hours on November 5, the accused person quarreled with his father on the same issue.
Chief Inspector Paddy said while they were scolding each other, the victim intervened and pleaded with both parties to refrain from the shameful act.
The accused person became offended and fought with Kwarteng but neighbours separated them.
Chief Inspector Paddy said to ensure that peace prevailed in the family, the victim left the house to a drinking spot.
He said Kwarteng left the spot around 1700hours and was on his way home, when Gyasi stabbed him in the stomach and bolted.
The victim bled profusely but managed to get home. Neighbours rushed him to the Asankragwa Catholic Hospital where he was admitted.
Gyasi was arrested by the complainant with the assistance of some neighbours
