Court convicts two persons for building without permit

The hullabaloo about the sitting of a Community Senior High School (SHS) in the Agona East District has ended when the District Assembly voted on the issue.

At an emergency meeting of the Assembly at Agona Nsaba to decide on the location of project, 21 out of the 24 members voted for the school to be constructed at Agona Duakwa.

Three voted in favour of the project being sited at Agona Namawura. Addressing the members Mr Samuel Richard Zigah, the Presiding Member, said the Assembly would not allow a few people to use their personalities to achieve parochial interests.

He said the Assembly had no record that the location of the project had been shifted from Agona Duakwa to Namawura. Nana Kojo Amoakwa, Chief of Duakwa, led his subjects to walked 3.1 kilometers from Agona Duakwa to Agona Nsaba to present a petition against the attempted shifting of the project to another place.

Mr Zigah expressed worry about the MP’s inability to attend Assembly meetings since voted into office two years ago and appealed to him to attend Assembly meetings.

Mr Martin Luther Obeng, District Chief Executive for Agona East, said the MP was involved in selecting the site for the project at Agona Duakwa.

Nana Kojo Amoakwa thanked the Assembly members for their sense of direction to approve the SHS to be sited at Duakwa and said this would bring peace in the district to ensure a successful execution of the project.
