Court fines farmer for causing harm

Akim Oda (E/R) July 18, GNA – The Akim Oda Magistrate’s Court has fined Issah Amadu, a farmer GH¢200 for hitting the right eye of Mr Stephen Awotwe, a taxi driver and pay an additional GH¢200 to compensate his victim.

Amadu, who pleaded guilty to assault, would serve 12 months prison term in hard labour in default.

Prosecuting, Police Inspector Kingsley Kwaku Antwi told the court presided over by Mr Albert Owusu Annor, that Mr Awotwe and Amadu lives at Akim Gyadam.

At about 0800 hours on June 8, Mr Awotwe was loading his taxi when he spotted his wheel cap on a bicycle belonging to Amadu’s friend.

Inspector Antwi, said Mr Awotwe questioned Amadu about the wheel cap, which infuriated the convict who pounced on him and hit his right eye with a fist.

A report was made to the Police leading to the arrest of Amadu.
