Court fines father, son fined for unauthorized gun transfer.

Cape Coast, July 23, GNA - Daniel Bio, a farmer from Tuffourkrom in the Assin south district, was on Friday fined one million cedis for not regularizing the transfer of a gun to his son, by a circuit court at Cape Coast.

He pleaded guilty and will serve six months in prison in default. In the dock with him was his son, Kwame Daniel, who pleaded guilty for accepting the gun from his father, and was also fined 1 million cedis, or in default, six months imprisonment. Prosecuting, Chief Inspector Hope Azasoo told the court, presided over by Mr. Mustapha Logoh that on April 13 this year, Bio had information that some people were seen working on his piece of land at Tuffourkrom near Nyankomasi- Ahenkro.

He said when Bio went to the scene he was told that the Central Regional Minister, Mr. Isaac Edumadze had bought the land and had asked them to work on it.

Bio decided to inform the police and when he left his son showed up with gun given to him by his father, and those working on the land went to inform the police that Daniel had come to threaten them with a gun. Chief inspector Azasoo said he was subsequently arrested and during interrogation, he told the police that his father had given the gun to him as a gift and Bio was also arrested.

The court therefore, ordered that the gun should be returned to Daniel if its transfer is regularized.
