The Amasaman Circuit Court has granted two farmers, Solomon Armah Tagoe, 74, and David Nii Lantei Lamptey, 62, bail of GH¢50,000.00 each with two sureties in an alleged multiple land sale case.
Tagoe and Lamptey are accused of defrauding a bar operator, Augustine Tetteh, under the pretext of securing him a parcel of land.
Both farmers pleaded not guilty to charges of conspiracy to defraud and defrauding Tetteh.
The Court, presided over by Enid Marful-Sau, ordered their sureties to present valid national identity cards at the Court’s Registry.
Tagoe and Lamptey are scheduled to reappear in court on April 2, 2025.
Tetteh, the complainant, is a bar operator residing in Bubuashie, while Tagoe and Lamptey are residents of Adeiso and Nsakina in the Eastern Region, respectively, Police Chief Inspector Salifu Nashiru told the Court.
According to Chief Inspector Nashiru, in 2014, Tagoe and Lamptey sold a piece of land at Dome Sarpeiman to Tetteh for GH¢7,000.00. Tetteh began constructing store footings on the land, but another person later claimed ownership, presenting a land title.
Upon informing the accused persons about the situation, they relocated Tetteh to another plot. However, a second individual also claimed ownership of that land.
Tetteh subsequently reported the matter to the Adjen Kotoku Police, leading to the arrest of the accused persons.
Following police investigations, Tagoe and Lamptey were charged with the offences.
