Court grants two prostitutes GH¢1,000 bail

Tarkwa, June 19, GNA - A Tarkwa Circuit Court has granted bail in the sum of GH¢500 each to a 35 year-old unemployed, Fedelia Quarcoo and Kelvi= n Boateng, 34-year-old welder for allegedly engaging in prostitution and resisting arrest.

They pleaded not guilty and would reappear on June 27. Prosecuting Police Chief Inspector Edward Paddy told the Court preside= d over by Mr Samuel Obeng Diawuo that the complainants are police personnel operating in Tarkwa Municipality. He said at about 1215 hours on June 7, the police were on night patrol= s within the Municipality when they had intelligence report that some people were loitering about the Rail View Hotel and soliciting for prostitution. Chief Inspector Paddy said the first accused person was arrested with three condoms in her purse.

According to the Prosecutor while Fedelia was resisting arrest, the second accused person intervened and was obstructing the police from carrying out their duty.

He said Fedelia and Kelvin were over powered and taken to the Police station and when they being interrogated, the first accused said the second accused was her boy friend, but surprisingly, she could not mentioned the name of her friend. The prosecutor said, the first accused later admitted she was a prostitute.
