The Winneba Magistrate’s Court has issued a bench warrant for the arrest of a 30 year-old fish monger based at Winneba for threatening to kill the tenant of her husband..

In an earlier appearance before the court, Ama Bortsiwaa, a native of Winneba, pleaded not guilty to the charge and the presiding judge, Mr. Alexander Oworae, adjourned the case to 16th September, 2015.

However, Bortsiwaa failed to re-appear on the given date.

According to the Prosecution, Police Inspector Peter Agbelie, the complainant of the case was Bernice Akromah, a social worker who lived in the same house with the accused person, who was also the wife of the landlord.

The prosecution said on 21st July, 2015, the accused, without any provocation, threatened the complainant with statement in vernacular, which translates, “If you cherish your life then you should collect the balance of your rent deposit, pack your things and leave”.

Inspector Agbelie said the complaint, consequently, reported the matter to the Police and on the 20th August, 2015 Bortsiwaa was arrested.

He said she denied issuing the threat during investigations in her caution statement.
