Dormaa-Ahenkro (B/A), Feb. 6, GNA - A circuit court at Dormaa Ahenkro, presided by Mr. Justice Vincent Carl Senu, has sentenced a 20-year-old man to eight years' imprisonment in hard labour for defiling a 14 year-old pupil.

Kumi Asiedu pleaded guilty to the offence and was convicted on his own plea.

Giving the facts of the case, Prosecuting Inspector Kofi Owusu Takyi, said the girl's mother and Asiedu lived in the same vicinity at Dormaa-Ahenkro, while the girl stayed with her sister in another part of the town.

Inspector Takyi said at about 1900 hours on December 30 last year, Asiedu, a regular visitor to the girl's house asked her to accompany him so she could take a message to his girl friend. Inspector Takyi said the unsuspecting girl agreed and followed him but on reaching a place at the Tuesday market, Asiedu threw her onto a table under one of the sheds and defiled her. Inspector Takyi said an unusual noise generated by the struggle from the girl attracted a passer-by who later reported the incident to the Police.

Asiedu was arrested and in his caution statement admitted the offence but insisted that the latter was his fianc=E9e. A medical report tendered in evidence confirmed that the victim's female organ had been forcibly penetrated.
